Junior Section

Our Junior section has been growing since it was formed in 2010. It now has over 140 juniors of various ages from 3 to 17 with the older members playing in the adult teams. To cater for growing numbers, and give the youngest the best start into cricket, in 2021 we have started Mini Crickets on Wednesday evenings for 3 to 8 year olds.

Weekly coaching sessions take place on Thursday evenings for 9-16 year olds. The juniors are split into different age groups, each assigned to one or more coaches for their group, as well as some specialised coaching for one or two at a time with our experience player coaches.

We have a number of matches against other clubs taking place throughout the week.

For the 2021 season we entered 3 teams into the Surrey Junior Cricket Championship:

  • U11s will play in U10/11 Softball Central (pairs rules)

  • U13 Blues will play in U13 Tier 3 Sunday Central (Hardball main rules)

  • U13 Yellows will play in U13 Tier 2/3 Midweek East (Hardball main rules)

  • The U13 Yellows have also been entered into the Tier 2 Cup

We also arranged friendly games for the U15 and U10 age groups.

Coaches

We will have 9 of our own qualified coaches for 2021 as well as using two pxrofessional coaches. If any of our parents want to take up coaching or become a coaching assistant please contact one of the committee. All costs of training coaches are paid for by the club. We just want you to commit the time.

Winter nets

During the winter we have the use of the sports hall at Ewell Castle School with four indoor nets for the juniors aged 10 upwards who are using hard balls. Coaches run the sessions which have had on average 20 children attending per week.

Social Events

We will again be running various social events during the year. These are a key part of the club calendar that everybody enjoys, kids and adults alike.  We usually have a few barbecues and an Awards Evening. Other events have included a quiz night and a very successful wine tasting evening; all run by volunteers to raise funds for the club.
